Summit ESC Audiologist, Dr. Carrie
Spangler, was recently reappointed to the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals
(SHP) Board by the Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, for a new term ending March
22, 2022. This is Dr. Spangler’s second consecutive term as she was previously
appointed in 2018 under then-Governor John Kasich. The SHP board regulates the
practice of speech-language pathology, audiology and hearing aid fitters by
establishing, promoting and enforcing practice standards and professional
competency among licensees as defined in the Ohio Revised and Administrative
Codes.
Dr. Spangler is uniquely qualified
for her role on the SHP board. She is internationally recognized in the field
of educational audiology and has 20 years of experience working with school
districts providing audiology services. Living successfully with hearing loss
herself, Dr. Spangler also brings a personal perspective to the board.
“I am very grateful for the continuing opportunity to serve those
in the state of Ohio who are afflicted by hearing loss or communications needs
in some capacity, whether it be themselves or a family member,” said Dr. Spangler.
“As a member of the board, I am committed to protecting the health, safety and
welfare of Ohioans by enforcing fair regulatory practice across the speech-language
pathology, audiology and hearing aid fitting disciplines.”
“Dr. Spangler is a valued member of the Summit ESC team, and we are excited for her to bring the passion she has for her work and for the hearing-loss community to her role on the SPH board,” said Summit ESC Superintendent Joseph Iacano. “We know she is the right choice for the role
and will continue to do a great job for the citizens of Ohio.”
