Summit ESC continues to work with both state and local authorities on appropriate
precautions and responses related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) . We receive
timely updates and feedback related to recommended protocols for the school
environment and implement immediately. As we await information regarding
how our partner districts will respond to the news that the Coronavirus has
made its way into Ohio, we will remain OPEN until further notice.
In our effort to be as proactive as possible in preventing the Coronavirus from inhabiting our
classrooms AND to help mitigate the effects of Influenza A and B, we have
elected to cancel all activities that were scheduled for Friday, March 13,
2020 to allow our staff ample time to clean and sanitize their classrooms.
We will be following recommendations from the State Board of Health, which include:
- extra wipe downs of hard surfaces
and cleaning of frequently used items and areas
- increasing our availability of soap, wipes and cleaning supplies
- frequent and scheduled reminders for students to wash their hands following the guidelines provided by Akron Children’s hospital
You may find the most current information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) at the sites
listed below. I have also included a link from the CDC that provides guidance to parents on how to help children understand and cope with the news of the Coronavirus.
