REGISTRATION DETAILS:
Session 1: January 21st 3:45-4:45
Participants will:
-Analyze the content literacy standards for social studies and determine how they fit into their current instructional practices.
-Briefly go over Depth of Knowledge and examine how teachers can scaffold to increase rigor in instructions and assessments.
-Discuss differentiated text offerings so students that can read at a much higher level are given some materials to challenge them.
-Go over primary source teaching strategies and determine places to find resources.
Session 2: February 11th 3:45-4:45
-Review the ELA informational text standards that can be incorporated into social studies.
-Identify and practice comprehension strategies that can be used when teaching with content area texts.
-Review vocabulary strategies to incorporate into social studies.
Participants can sign up for one or both sessions. After registration ends, a Zoom link will be shared with registrants. Each session is worth 1 contact hour. Participants are eligible to receive gifted hours for both sessions.
Each session is worth one hour for a total of 2 hours.
Both sessions can be used for gifted hours.
Cost: $10 for each session
