Executive function and self-regulation skills, as defined by the Harvard Center on the Developing Child, “are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks successfully.” These foundational skills develop over time and enable students to successfully engage with their environment. So, how do executive functions impact students’ education? Attend this session to find out more about executive functions, how they manifest in the educational setting, and how educators can support their development for students with a continuum of skills and needs, including students who are twice exceptional.
