Description:

America has always been a multicultural country!  Everyone is an individual, with their own priorities and needs. People from different cultures bring richness and creativity to the communities in which they live.  Whether populations have been here for centuries, or have just arrived to the United States, they bring with them their own languages, customs and traditions.  Some may bring their own traumas as well.  Schools and other organizations need to be able to respond to families in respectful and informed ways.  Understanding where individuals may have come from, and the challenges they face, can help professionals work more efficiently and effectively with students and their families.  This workshop is designed to help professionals understand the dynamics of various populations in order to focus their efforts on helping each child to succeed.
