Description:
Visual Phonics is an effective tool designed to enhance literacy instruction by making sounds visible and kinesthetic. While it is particularly beneficial for d/Deaf and hard of hearing students, it can also support a wide range of diverse learners. Educators such as general education teachers, intervention specialists, educational interpreters, speech-language pathologists, and families can utilize Visual Phonics to improve skills in phonological awareness, phonics, encoding, decoding and vocabulary development. Additionally, this tool can be instrumental in enhancing speech and language skills.
Participants of this training will learn all handshapes and written symbols for Visual Phonics as well as learn about the background, research, and implementation ideas.
Participants must participate in the in-person training (Feb. 27 8:30am-3:30 pm) AND the virtual session (Feb. 28 1pm-3pm).
