The Curriculum and Instruction Department is committed to providing educators with high quality professional learning and resources, which lead to building individual and collective capacity for the improvement of student learning and the development of the whole child.

Our Vision
In order to fulfill our mission, the Curriculum and Instruction Department will function as a true professional learning community committed to research and data-based decision making, cooperation, collegiality, mutual support, and sensitivity to the needs of our stakeholders.

Our Goals
  • Provide learning opportunities for teachers and administrators to improve their abilities to implement standards and research-based instructional practices
  • Serve as a support network while strategically growing the capacities of the educators in our area

Andrea Patt is the Curriculum Coordinator at Summit Educational Service Center. Her roles include:

-Resident Educator Coordinator

-OTES 2.0 and OPES 2.0 State Trainer

-Regional Data Lead

-Social Studies Consultant. 

-Curriculum Director at Mogadore Local School District. 

She began her teaching career as a social studies/reading teacher at Baltimore County Public Schools in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to teaching, her responsibilities included grade-level team leader and PBIS co-chair. Upon moving back to Ohio, she worked as a Title I tutor at Streetsboro City School District. She also taught at Constellation Schools LLC as a sixth grade social studies teacher. Within this role, she served on the school BLT and Safety Committee, as well as the district Curriculum Writing Committee. 

Andrea received both her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Ecology and Masters in Middle Childhood Education from The Ohio State University. She went on to earn her advanced certificate in Administration and Leadership from Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Gifted Curriculum Consultant
My teaching experience began in Minnesota where I taught art for 12 years.  After moving to Ohio, I earned a gifted license and taught gifted for 4 years.  At that point, I became a gifted coordinator and have worked as a coordinator for the last 16 years in a few different areas of the state in that capacity.
I will be Summit ESC's new gifted coordinator.  I will also be helping out in other curriculum areas as needed since  I also have a background in the visual/performing arts as well as gifted certification.
Some duties may include:
  • Gifted identification/overseeing written education plans
  • Helping/advising on acceleration requests
  • Helping to ensure compliance with any ODE requests
