Pat Clayton
Social Studies, Foreign Language Content Consultant
Patricia Clayton is the Social Studies Consultant at the Summit ESC. She served as a classroom teacher, athletic director, faculty advisor for various clubs at Mogadore High School for 25 years. Other state and local roles have included: ODE Academic Content Standards Advisory Committee ODE Network of Regional Leaders ODE Model Curriculum Writer Ohio Council for the Social Studies Patricia has written articles for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Ohio Council for Social Studies, served as a lead for a 5-million-dollar federal American history grant, and served as a social studies consultant for Scott Foresman, Houghton Mifflin, and Jarret. Pat was the 2017 Summit County Woman of the Year for Innovation. She has also presented at national, state, and regional conferences.

Andrea Patt
Curriculum Consultant
Andrea is currently the Resident Educator Mentor/Coordinator as well as one of our Curriculum Consultants at Summit ESC. She holds a B.S. in Human Ecology with a concentration in Human Development and Family Science along with a M. Ed in Middle Childhood Education from The Ohio State University. In addition, she carries an Advanced Certificate in Administration in grades PK-12. Andrea has worked as a Social Studies and Reading Teacher at Baltimore County Public Schools in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as a Title I Reading Tutor at Streetsboro City Schools. She most recently worked as a Social Studies teacher at Constellation Schools LLC in which she was a part of the Building Leadership Team and Curriculum Writing Commitee.

Jean Pauna
Gifted Curriculum Consultant
My teaching experience began in Minnesota where I taught art for 12 years. After moving to Ohio, I earned a gifted license and taught gifted for 4 years. At that point, I became a gifted coordinator and have worked as a coordinator for the last 16 years in a few different areas of the state in that capacity.
I will be Summit ESC's new gifted coordinator. I will also be helping out in other curriculum areas as needed since I also have a background in the visual/performing arts as well as gifted certification. Some duties may include: Gifted identification/overseeing written education plansHelping/advising on acceleration requestsHelping to ensure compliance with any ODE requests

English Language Arts/ Literacy Content Specialist K-12
Debbie Theirl is a consultant with the department of Curriculum and Instruction. She has served as principal, curriculum specialist, Reading Recovery Teacher-Leader, literacy coach, Title I/Federal Programs consultant, and classroom teacher for two Northeast Ohio school districts. Additionally, Debbie serves as a State Support Team Region 8 school improvement consultant.
