As of March 24, 2023, all Ohio Schools serving grades 6-12 were required to identify a threat assessment team made up of interdisciplinary staff members. Each member of this team is required to undergo a state-approved threat assessment training upon appointment to the team and once every three years thereafter. Threat Assessment is a proactive measure to identify students who are at risk for carrying out dangerous acts and to put supports in place for those students before violence occurs.
Threat assessment team members are required to complete an approved training upon appointment and once every three years thereafter. Summit ESC partners with regional partners to host regular Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) trainings which meet this requirement.
